Lebanon calls to me, it has drawn me in & I am forever addicted. Addicted to her mountains, her sea, her food and most importantly her people. I’ve come to realize that it’s rare to still feel so attached to a place you haven’t lived in in over twenty years. To still have this obsessive love to come back & reconnect with friends you haven’t really seen since you were in your late teens & early twenties. But here I am, a 42 year old, passionately in love with a country & a city I keep wanting to come back to. My family & I usually pick our summer destinations based on East or West. So if one summer we go east, the following is west. This year, we chose to do a bit of both. The kids & my husband were off to Europe with my in-laws (while I was on a work trip to Vegas- next newsletter will tell you more about this). So, we contemplated where to go to next, given the regional tension & the war(s) since 2023, Lebanon was the only logical option (reread the above intro). I found it quite logical since I was also planning my first ever collab with my L’atelier Nawbar family. We rented a cute, ant ridden two bedroom for a month. I got my kids amazing Arabic teacher from Covid days to come & tutor them & we set off on our Lebanese adventure. Knowing full well that it’ll be fun, I still have friends here & luckily enough they have kids & I just love it here so I’m sure my kids will too (no choice but to love it)!
